Guide :Cooktops : JGD8130 Gas Cooktop

Jenn-Air JGD8130ADS We discovered that our new Jenn Air JGD8130 downdraft gas cooktop provides in our new kitchen is inadequate to properly boil pasta or fry fish. The burners of our 40 year old Hardwick gas range that is sitll operational in our old kitchen is much much hotter. The specs for this cooktop state that the two right burners are rated at 9,000 BTU each and the two left burners are rated at 7,500 BTU each. I confirmed that the burner orfices installed on the cooktop are for natrural gas and not propane since we are connected to a natural gas utility system. . I also noticed in the specs that the orfice for the 9,000 BTU burners have a diameter of 0.037 inches while the 7,500 BTU burners have a orfice diameters of 0.033 inches . Can I either purchase larger diameter orfices or have the existing orfices bored out at a machine shop to increase the BTU rating? In comparing the areas of these different orfice diameters I calcualate that I would need an orfice diameter of 0.044 inches (approx 3/64") to obtain a 12,000 BTU burner rating.
